Abstract
Availability of pure culture of a microorganism is extremely important for subjecting it to scientific or industrial investigations and usage. In this context, culture collection centres around the globe play an important role. With their main function as a repository, they receive, verify, preserve and maintain the pure cultures of microorganisms. Apart from this basic function, they also provide services to the research and industrial communities by supply of pure cultures. In the present chapter, we detail the aims and scope of a few of the culture collection centres dealing with entomopathogenic microorganisms keeping in view the researchers looking forward to step into this field. These include the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC), World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC), Microbial Type Culture Collection (MTCC), National Fungal Culture Collection of India (NFCCI), Agricultural Research Station Collection of Entomopathogenic Fungal Cultures (ARSEF) and University of California Davis Nematode Collection (UCDNC).
