Abstract
Delayed and uneven bud break in warm winter regions where plants do not satisfy their chilling requirement is a major cause of productivity loss. Hydrogen cyanamide has been used worldwide to overcome chilling deficiency in orchards, but it is being banned in many countries due to its toxicity to humans. BLUPRINS® is a dormancy-breaking agent developed by Biolchim S.p.A. containing amino acids, polysaccharides, nitrogen, and calcium in a concentrated gel formulation. Trials carried out in different countries have shown that BLUPRINS® effectively advances and condenses uniformity in sprouting and flowering in kiwifruit, cherry, and table grape without inducing phytotoxicity.
