Abstract

Formulations and processes starting with and without backup layer, parameters of significance in a formulation like porosity, theoretical density with actual measurements are highlighted. Dry mix process for disk pad formulations, with a note on history forms part of this chapter. As part of the mixing process, mixing cycles, time and sequence of mixing with controls on the mixing efficiency and mixing action are given. Demands for mixing the ceramic and nonasbestos organic, and organic formulations with horsepower requirements for the mixer are explained. Some short notes on wobbler, kneader and sigma mixers, with mixing action details are provided in this chapter.
