Abstract

This chapter summarizes both previous theoretical and expeirmental work on Boolean networks. I distinguish between synchronous and autonomous Boolean networks in Sect. 2.1 and introduce Boolean network models and preceding experimental work with electronic circuits in Sects. 2.2 and 2.3.
