Abstract

The general formula for the probability P N (x) for a particle to be found at position x after N steps, obtained in the last chapter [see Eq. (23.30)], depends on the dimension of space D in which the random walk takes place. (It also depends on the geometry of the lattice, but for simplicity, we will only consider cubic lattice in D-dimensions.)
