This chapter deals with sequences, series, and products of real numbers, and the fundamental concept of convergence of these entities. We shall treat, too, approximation of real numbers by rational numbers, and we shall introduce the Euler number e.

    Note that we consider only infinite sequences, if nothing is said on the contrary. This does not mean that the range of the sequence should be necessarily an infinite set. For example, a constant sequence \(\{1,1,1,\ldots\}\) is a perfectly acceptable sequence.
