Abstract
This chapter continues the theme of using case histories to illustrate some of the general points made in Chap. 3 on Dance and dance technique with two illustrative case histories. The first describes a contemporary dancer who developed inflammatory arthritis during her training but who was able to complete this with the help of modern drugs. The second describes an established contemporary dancer who developed degenerative joint disease in the hips but who continued to dance after bilateral total hip replacements. In each case the dancers have added to the case discussion with personal comments of their own experience and feelings.
