Abstract
The fault detection problem is an important topic in systems science and control engineering from the viewpoint of improving system reliability. The basic idea of fault detection is to construct a residual signal and, based on this, to determine a residual evaluation function to compare with a predefined threshold. When the residual evaluation function has a value larger than the threshold, an alarm of faults is generated.
