Ectopic Pregnancy

Abstract

Intramural pregnancy represents a very rare form of ectopic pregnancy and little is known about its etiology, prevalence, and natural history. The diagnosis is difficult due to its variable location within the uterus and different degrees of myometrial involvement. The diagnosis can usually be made on ultrasound scan but magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be helpful in some cases. The management of intramural pregnancy varies depending on the type of intramural pregnancy, the gestational age and severity of symptoms at presentation. Increased awareness of this rare condition should improve its detection and ensure better maternal outcomes in the future.
