Abstract

A robust position control for induction motors using sliding mode observers and controller is proposed. The proposed control scheme incorporates a sliding mode based flux and load torque estimator in order to avoid these sensors, that increases the cost and reduces the system reliability. The proposed control scheme presents a robust performance under system uncertainties and external load torque disturbances. Additionally, the proposed control scheme does not present a high computational cost and therefore can be implemented easily in high-performance real time applications for induction motors.
