Abstract

This chapter (Partially based on: Levin MS (2013) Note on evaluation of hierarchical modular systems. Electronic preprint. p 15, May 21, 2013. http://arxiv.org/abs/1305.4917 [cs.AI]) addresses frameworks for evaluation of hierarchical composite (modular) systems (i.e., system parts/components and systems). The following is considered: (i) description of basic types of scales (e.g., quantitative scale, ordinal scale, poset-like scale based on ordinal estimates, poset-like scale based on multiset estimates); (ii) basic problems for transformation of the scales; and (iii) comparison problems, (iv) basic problems for scale integration (including integrated scales for system quality), for example: multicriteria methods, method of integration tables, hierarchical morphological design methods. Numerical and applied examples illustrate the frameworks.
