Abstract
The tip of a spinal or epidural needle may stimulate a nerve or even cause nerve lesions, leading to paresthesias during the performance of spinal or epidural anesthetic blockade. Similarly, the tip of an epidural catheter may affect nerves, causing paresthesias after continuous anesthetic blockade techniques, in which the catheter may be placed adjacent to the nerve for prolonged periods.
