Abstract
After the completion of several plant genomes, CBL and CIPK genes have been identified in various plant species beside Arabidopsis and rice in angiosperms. Moreover, CBL and CIPK genes have also been identified in algae, mosses, pteridophytes, and gymnosperms. Interestingly, CBL- and CIPK-type proteins have also been identified outside plant kingdom in protozoa. But, very little is known about the functional role of the CBL and CIPK in these species.
