Abstract
Residents and clinical faculty members can play a crucial role in the education of medical students. Typically, these individuals are known for their role in teaching these students purely in the clinical setting; however, they also have a role in the basic science curriculum as well. One of the most obvious areas is in gross anatomy teaching sessions, laboratory activities, and/or courses. The clinical perspective these individuals offer epitomizes the mandate to include more perspective and experiential teaching in the basic concepts of the year one medical curricula. This chapter will focus on how residents and clinicians are incorporated into the education of first- and second-year medical students with the use of clinical case discussions and fresh tissue laboratories with prosected/previously dissected cadaveric specimens.
