Abstract

Water is an omnipresent substance on the planet, essential for all forms of life and present in diverse natural processes. The ubiquity, the mobility and the different states of water, make the study of hydrology complex. Concerning water, there are a huge variety of approaches, from scientific and professional perspectives.

All things are from water and all things are resolved into water.

Thales of Miletus (fl. c. 624 BC–c. 546 BC)
