Abstract
Previous chapters have demonstrated the evolution of digital pathology, starting as merely a telepathology and educational tool to its more recent use in whole slide image analysis, whereby the computer itself performs diagnostic testing on whole slide images (WSI) to assist pathologists in diagnostic and disease-staging processes. This chapter provides concrete examples of digital pathology at work, ranging from its use aiding in the staging of cancer, to its application as an educational tool at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM), to its adoption as a vital instrument to enhance medical service delivery in developing countries like Egypt and Haiti.
