Abstract
The situation of the European freight-transportation industry is critical. A report of the World Economic Forum (WEF) presented disturbing numbers: 24 % of vehicles run empty, and the rest are only 57 % full, which results in an overall capacity utilization of only 43 %. The abatement potential in terms of both cost and carbon is vast.
