Abstract

Applied dynamics is concerned with the characteristics of motion and deformation and is based on kinematics, kinetics, and the principles of analytical mechanics. Mechanical systems are usually engineering structures. In order to investigate these mathematically, it is necessary to describe them using models. According to the kind of modelling, a distinction is made in this book between multibody systems, finite element systems, and continuous systems. All of these mechanical models lead from their equations of motion to state equations, which can be solved numerically by consistent methods.
