Abstract

We designed and implemented the ISCARE tutor which enables competition one against one solving a collection of exercises in a limited amount of time, with a double adaptation: adaptation of matches so that students with similar knowledge levels are paired; and adaptation of exercises. This study proves that a competition system with the characteristics of ISCARE can be an effective tool for learning, producing important learning gains during the learning process.
