Abstract

This chapter describes the final physics analysis carried out within this thesis—the search for compressed supersymmetric scenarios in final states with missing transverse energy, jets, and one isolated low-\(p_{\mathrm {T}}\) lepton using the full ATLAS dataset of \(\fancyscript{L} = 4.7\) \(\mathrm {fb}^{-1}\) recorded in 2011 at 7 TeV center-of-mass energy. The physics motivation as well as an overview of the analysis are given in Sect. 6.1

Notes

  1. 1.

A smaller part of the difference between the two generator setups can be attributed to differences in the parton shower modeling.

  2. 2.

The mistagging efficiency is defined as the number of light jets tagged as b-jets over the total number of light jets.

  3. 3.

    The transverse momenta of the vector bosons are defined as \(p_{\mathrm {T}}^{\mathrm {W}}=\sqrt{(\overrightarrow{p}_{\mathrm {T,lep_1}}+\overrightarrow{p}_{\mathrm {T}}^{\;miss})^2} \quad \) and \(p_{\mathrm {T}}^{\mathrm {Z}}= \sqrt{(\overrightarrow{p}_{\mathrm {T,lep_1}}+\overrightarrow{p}_{\mathrm {T,lep_2}})^2}\) for the \(W\) and \(Z\) bosons respectively.
