Abstract

A search for \(C\!P\) violation in the decay \(D^+ \rightarrow \phi \pi ^+\) is described. This search used 1 \(fb^{-1}\) of data collected at LHCb in 2011. A measurement of the \(C\!P\) violation integrated across the resonance is complemented by the definition and measurement of a new observable for CPV searches in decays to vector mesons. This quantity exploits the variation of the strong phase across the resonance in the Dalitz plot. The systematic uncertainties associated with the precision measurement of charge asymmetries at a hadron collider are discussed in detail. The searches are the most sensitive to date but no \(C\!P\) violation was found.
