Abstract

Gas compressors are mainly used in chemical and petrochemical industries; air compressors are widely used in every kind of industries for different purposes. Air compressor applications may be broadly classified as follows: (1) providing power, as in tools or other machines and in control systems for HVAC and for industrial equipment; (2) handling process gas, usually in refineries and chemical plants, and transporting and distributing gas in pipelines; and (3) providing air for combustion as in gas turbine cycles. An additional use is for cleaning or drying material more efficiently than thermal energy.
