Abstract
At a meeting held on August 20, 1920 in the Jordan and Hupmobile automobile showroom in Canton, Ohio, the representatives of four professional football teams formed an organization and named it the American Professional Football Conference (APFC). One month later, however, ten officials representing football teams from the States of Illinois, Indiana, New York, and Ohio met in Canton and changed the APFC’s title to the American Professional Football Association (APFA).
