Abstract
The most prominent and successful organizations in American professional team sports emerged, developed, and matured during the twentieth century. As of 2013, these different groups—from most to least experienced in each sport—include 113-year-old Major League Baseball (MLB), 97-year-old National Hockey League (NHL), 94-year-old National Football League (NFL), 65-year-old National Basketball Association (NBA), and 18-year-old Major League Soccer (MLS).
