Abstract

This report reviews the discovery of a new particle in the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations using 10  fb−1 of LHC data. Both experiments have observed a new boson with convincing evidence for the described. Some details of the ZZ → ℓ ℓ ℓ ℓ mode are entered into as an example while other modes are outlined more briefly. The implications and outlook are also summarised, along with some comments on more complex Higgs boson sectors.
