The Return to Happiness: A New Interdisciplinary Approach to Happiness Research

  • Luka ZevnikEmail author

Due to the problematic gaps in the existent approaches to the study of happiness (illuminated in Chap.  2), this chapter develops a new critical interdisciplinary approach for the analysis of happiness called the return to happiness. This paradigm shift refuses a priori definitions and constructs of well-being and aims to affirm wider social and everyday meanings and practices related to happiness as vital focus of research. The return to happiness approach is influenced by anthropology, cultural studies and Michel Foucault’s work on experience.

Return to happiness Experience of happiness Foucault and happiness Genealogy of happiness History of happiness Shared a priori of experience Origin of happiness Basic parameters of happiness Cultural construction of happiness
