Abstract
This introductory chapter introduces the challenges that the water professionals will encounter in water management and allocation of water supply, factors that impact the water availability, water-energy-climate change relationships, water transfer and the role of various stakeholders, and finally policy decisions deriving the investments needs for planning and maintaining water supply systems.
