Abstract
In this chapter, we demonstrate the use of physics-based SBO techniques for the design of microstrip broadband antennas. A popular approach to make microstrip broadband antenna responses is to use thick multilayer substrates and extra, so-called parasitic, patches. For antennas of such a structure, the primary design tasks are matching in the frequency band of interest and maintaining the radiation response of required properties (e.g., peak gain, direction of maximal radiation, back-radiation level, radiation pattern, etc.)
