Abstract

The last two years of Brown-Séquard’s life were not full of bliss, despite marital happiness, his daughter’s affection and his secured financial and social situation, with a luxurious apartment in Paris, a villa in Nice and a galaxy of friends and admirers. In January 1894, he is shattered by grief at the death of his wife and returned to Paris a broken and sick man, suffering a brain haemorrhage. He died on the 1st April of that year.
