Abstract
In this chapter, the main simple perception elements are examined, able to influence emotions. In particular, the principles discovered and organised by Vilayanur Ramachandran are examined. Many examples are provided as applications in design and communication.

In some popularizing books, he adds a tenth principle, the metaphor, but this is not examined in his scientific production. We consider metaphors more related to the complex perception, dominated by the neo-cortex, and that will be examined in the following chapters.
