Abstract

Kampa System of rocks; composition of Mount Everest; Mount Everest Limestone, Lachi, and Tso Lhamo series; normal faults; Rouqiecun Group; Chiatsun Group and overlying Hongshantou Formation; Shiqipo Group with graptolites; Dothak series; Liangquan Formation and Pochu Group; Yali, Naxing, and Jilong formations; Gondwana affinity and volcanic rocks; Selung Group with Qubu and Quburega formations and Glossopteris flora; Tulung Group of Kangshare, Laibuxi, Zhamure, and Dashalong formations; Qulonggongba and Derirong formations; Pupuga, Niehnieh Hsiungla, and Menkatun formations; Kamba Group, Zongshan Formation, and Jidula Formation; Zongpu Group and Zhepure Formation

The thickest part of the crust does not lie beneath the main range of the Himalayas but under the low-lying country of the Yalu Tsangpo Valley instead.
