Abstract
The chapter describes the process of the ICMI-ICIAM-Study on “Educational Interfaces between Mathematics and Industry (EIMI-Study).” Starting from the Discussion Document, the text identifies questions addressed in the Study, describes the course and results of the Study Conference held in Lisbon in October 2010 and the way the Study Book evolved. Results and open questions related to the industrial and societal use of mathematics will be condensed in the “Conclusion” at the end of the Study Book.
