Abstract

This paper briefly describes the design of a novel continuous variable transmission that can be used to adjust the transmission ratio according to the externally applied load. A detailed 3D CAD model has been proposed in order to investigate the engineering feasibility of the proposed design solution. Main design variables and constraints have been selected by referring to a practical application as a speed reducer on a small wind mill. A proper dynamic model has been developed within MSC ADAMS software. Simulation tests have been carried out and preliminary discussed to validate the proposed design solution.
