Abstract

Land use/land cover changes are occurring at greater pace than ever before in human history. Within the context of land use/land cover change, changes to forest cover are extremely important particularly for rich biodiversity hotspots. This chapter addresses the question: what is the quantum of forest cover loss in the the Hamren sub-division, the Rani-Garbhanga Reserved Forest and the Namdapha National Park. Further forest fragmentation has been assessed using a few indices from landscape metrics.
