Abstract
Several strategies have been used for reducing the generation of pollutants. These are process modification through adaptation of cleaner technologies as alternatives to conventional technologies and end-of-pipe pollution treatment technologies, which are essential either as a supplement or as a backup measure to pollution reduction techniques in order to meet the effluent regulation standards. Both these approaches are equally important in meeting the environmental regulations and are described in this chapter.
