Abstract

One of the most popular pictures of Athanasius Kircher is the one in the “antiporta”—illustrated page preceding the frontispiece of the catalogue by Giorgio de Sepi. In this picture, we see him welcoming two visitors of his Museum, which, by the middle of the seventeenth century, has become a traditional destination for all those who travel to Rome.
