Experimental and Computational Fluid Mechanics

Abstract

In order to study the effect of orography on winds off Baja California, the momentum primitive equations describing an atmospheric flow over that region are solved numerically on a boundary-fitted grid. Numerical experiments are conducted for several flow conditions. Results show a remarkable agreement to available observations. Von Kármán vortex street shown in satellite images are also reproduced.
