Zusammenfassung
Entzündliche Erkrankungen des älteren Menschen unterscheiden sich hinsichtlich des klinischen Bildes, des Verlaufs, der Prognose und der therapeutischen Beeinflussbarkeit in mancher Hinsicht von rheumatischen Systemerkrankungen, die vor dem 60. Lebensjahr bzw. in jüngerem Lebensalter auftreten. Aufgrund der steigenden Lebenserwartung nimmt der Anteil der über 60-jährigen an der Gesamtbevölkerung stetig zu, und auch in der ärztlichen bzw. rheumatologischen Praxis wird man häufiger mit älteren und betagten Patienten konfrontiert sein (Tabelle 1).
