Zusammenfassung
Die Gicht ist die häufigste entzündliche Gelenkerkrankung des Mannes. Die Prävalenz liegt bei Männern über 30 und bei Frauen über 50 Jahren teilweise über 2%. Harnsäure entsteht durch den Abbau der Purinnukleotidbasen Adenin und Guanin und durch Abbau von aus der Nahrung aufgenommenen Purinen. Eine purinreiche Kost ist aber nicht der wesentliche pathogenetische Faktor. Die häufigste Ursache der Hyperurikämie ist eine familiäre Störung der renalen Harnsäureexkretion.
