Abstract
Ribosomes are RNA-protein particles measuring 30nm at their largest dimensions, which function as machineries for protein synthesis. Within a ribosome, a messenger-RNA (mRNA) and transfer-RNAs (tRNA) are brought together, thus allowing base pairing between mRNA codons and tRNA anticodons, which drives the synthesis of a polypeptide with an amino acid sequence according to the model specified by the mRNAs codons.
