Zusammenfassung
Das Innenohr ist, wie wir alle wissen, im härtesten Knochen der Körpers eingebettet. Wenn auch die bildgebende Diagnostik immer besser wird und die Forschung auf zellulärer Ebene immer tiefer in die Geheimnisse der Natur eindringt, so sind wir doch noch weit davon entfernt, bei akuten oder anfallsartig auftretenden Erkrankungen dem Patienten einen klaren Hinweis auf die Genese seiner Erkrankung zu geben. Entsprechend vielfältig, skurril und wohl z. T. auch falsch sind die von HNO-Ärzten und anderen Vertretern der im Kopf tätigen Fächern untereinander und dem Patienten gegenüber vertretenen Theorien. Ein klassisches Beispiel ist der Hörsturz. Hier wird von Durchblutungsstörungen gesprochen oder von Virusinfekten, nur selten gibt es aber einen klaren Beweis.
