Zusammenfassung
Belebte Materie zeichnet sich thermodynamisch durch einen hohen Ordnungsgrad, d. h. niedrige Entropie aus. Die Aufrechterhaltung derartiger Ordnungszustände ist nur bei dauernder Energiezufuhr möglich. Daraus folgt, dass schon unsere bloße körperliche Existenz in Abwesenheit zusätzlicher Arbeitsleistungen energieabhängig ist. Der tatsächliche Energiebedarf des menschlichen Organismus geht schon unter Grundumsatzbedingungen, nicht zuletzt wegen der Bedürfnisse der stoffwechselaktiven Organe, Zentralnervensystem, Herz, Leber, Niere, weit über die zum Strukturerhalt notwendige Energie hinaus und wird durch motorische Aktivität und Stress zusätzlich gesteigert.
