Abstract

This contribution is based on a presentation given at the workshop in Genoa, preceding the conference “Humans in Outer Space”. This presentation ended with six conclusions. They will now appear as six theses and at the same time as a concise outline of this paper. The subsequent elaborations will be inadequately short in view of the vastness of the subject, the uncertainties pervading almost all conclusions, and their enormous philosophical consequences. Moreover, a large portion of subjectivity will adhere to the conclusions and little room will be devoted to existing controversies.
