Zusammenfassung

Verglichen mit einigen anderen Disziplinen der Medizin begann die Lebensqualitäts-Forschung in der Psychiatrie erst spät. Angesichts der Definition von gesundheitsbezogener Lebensqualität als die „vom Patienten selbst berichtete Befindlichkeit und Funktionsfähigkeit in körperlicher, mentaler und sozialer Hinsicht“ (Bullinger und Naber 1999) ist diese Verzögerung erstaunlich. Gerade in der Psychiatrie sind subjektive Befindlichkeit und Funktionsfähigkeit der Patienten als Bestandteile der psychiatrischen Symptoma tik relevant und ihre Verbesserung selbstverständliches Ziel der Therapie. Diese Bereiche mussten somit für die tägliche Arbeit nicht „entdeckt“ werden, wohl aber als Forschungsgegenstand mit der Notwendigkeit einer begriffichen und inhaltlichen Abgrenzung sowie einer methodischen Strukturierung.
