Zusammenfassung
Die menschlichen Sinne informieren in ihrer Gesamtheit über die Umwelt und die Position des menschlichen Körpers in seiner Umgebung. Diese Informationen sind für die Entwicklung der kognitiven Funktionen notwendig. Das Gehör spielt dabei eine sehr wichtige Rolle. Seine Bedeutung wird besonders auffällig, wenn es nicht richtig funktioniert und gar ausgefallen ist. Bei Kindern führt dies zu erheblichen Entwicklungsstörungen. Bei Erwachsenen ist soziale Isolierung die Folge. Heutzutage werden Cochlea-Implantate eingesetzt, um diese Probleme zu vermeiden.
