Die Maßeinheit der Kraft ist das Kilopond (kp) bzw. als Sl-Einheit ein Newton (N). Newton ist die Kraft, die einer Masse von 1 kg eine Beschleunigung von 1 m/s erteilt. Daher ist es notwendig z.B. die Körpermasse in kg mit der Erdbeschleunigung 9,81 m/s zu multiplizieren, um z.B. die Kraft zu ermitteln, die notwendig ist, um einen Berg zu erklimmen. Die Krafteinheiten kp und N werden umgerechnet: 9,81 N=l kp
