Das Endometriumkarzinom ist mit einer Inzidenz von 24,7/100 000 Frauen pro Jahr die häufigste maligne Erkrankung des inneren Genitale. Das mittlere Erkrankungsalter liegt bei 68 Jahren, der Altersgipfel zwischen 65 und 70 Jahren. Seit 1988 wird das Endometriumkarzinom entsprechend dem intraoperativen Befund eingeteilt (Tabelle 27.3.1).
