Das duktale Pankreasadenokarzinom, ausgehend wahrscheinlich vom Pankreasgangepithel, ist das häufigste Malignom des Pankreas und erreicht mit einer Inzidenz von 10–11/100 000 annähernd seine Mortalität (Jemal et al., 2005). Im Laufe der Zeit ist die 5-JüR für alle Patienten zusammen von 1 % (1950) auf heute ca. 4 % gestiegen (Ries et al., 1975–2001). Jedoch werden diese Prognosedaten kontrovers (Gudjonsson, 1987; Gudjonsson, 1995), auch im Sinne einer falschen Klassifikation der Histologie der Pankreastumore der Langzeit-überlebenden, diskutiert (Carpelan-Holmstrom et al., 2005).
