Abstract

Padé approximants for a formal power series are well known [BGM]. The basic idea is to approximate a formal power series
$$F(z) = \sum\nolimits_0^\infty {fk} {z^k}$$
rational function of the form A m (z)/B n (z) where A m (z) and B n (z) are polynomials of given degrees m and n respectively such that the formal expansion of the approximant in increasing powers of z is
$$\sum\nolimits_0^\infty {\phi k} {z^k}$$
and f k = ϕ k for k = 0,1,2,…,N with Nm+n.
