Abstract

Boundary value problems like the Laplace, Helmholtz, biharmonic, Lamé, or Stokes equations discussed in §8 can be approximated in their original domain of definition by various discretisation methods. Besides the (finite) difference method there is, in particular, the finite element method («FEM»; cf. Hackbusch [2]).
